topic Improve usage of Thunderbird main toolbar in Discussions

The down-pointing arrows next to some icons in the main toolbar have always been useless. I guess they mean "this icon is not a button, it opens a menu", or something like that. We are all used to it and the new user can discover that just by hovering over or clicking each icon.

While we're at it, why not have a third symbol for "this icon opens a panel" and a fourth one for "this icon opens a tab" etc. etc.

These unwieldy arrows are totally superfluous, and they create two annoying inconveniences:

1. They take up precious room on the toolbar

2. They greatly diminish the readability of the toolbar and slow down/impair user action by introducing an unnecessary extra visual-mental filtering step to skip them.

I say get rid of them.
