Firefox Annoying "Update available" popup

I get a very annoying "Upgrade available" popup whenever I am using Firefox browser. It suggests downloading the latest version of Firefox. I have done so a number of times but the popup appears again and again. I am getting annoyed enough to consider removing Firefox and using some other browser ,unless Firefox gets their ass in gear and fix this problem.

I agree. Is this pop up from Firefox, or is it a virus?

Update Folder: Shows the path to the folder containing the files update-config.json, updates.xml, active-update.xml (if an update was downloaded but not yet applied) and the updates subfolder. Clicking on Open Folder will take you to the update folder.

Try
Delete the contents of the updates folder
