topic Project Proposal: SFFox – A Privacy-First Identity & Secure Forwarding Gateway in Firefox Labs

hello Mozilla Innovations Team,

I am reaching out to propose a new strategic project that aligns with Mozilla’s mission of a free and private internet, titled SFFox (Secure Forward Fox).

The Concept:

While competitors like Google and Apple offer “Sign-In” services, they often act as data collection points. SFFox is envisioned as a Privacy-Centric Identity Gateway. It serves as a “shield” between the user and the web, providing seamless secure forwarding for digital identities.

Core Features of SFFox:

Identity Masking: Automatically generating unique, encrypted aliases for emails, usernames, and even payment metadata when interacting with third-party sites.

Secure Forwarding (The “SF” factor): A specialized protocol that routes user data through a zero-knowledge “Fox Tunnel,” ensuring that destination sites never receive the user’s real digital footprint.

Developer-Friendly Integration: Unlike complex enterprise solutions, SFFox would provide lightweight tools for independent developers and mobile-first creators to secure their sites, including domain privacy and WHOIS shielding.

Why the name SFFox?

• SF: Stands for Secure Forwarding or Safety First.

• Fox: Directly leverages the global trust and brand equity of Firefox.

• The Domain: The project is perfectly suited for a high-impact launch under the premium, concise domain SFFox.com, which mirrors the speed and agility of the Mozilla brand.

The Competitive Edge:

As the tech world moves toward “Privacy-by-Design,” SFFox positions Mozilla not just as a browser company, but as a core infrastructure provider for private digital identity. This project fills a critical gap for users who want the convenience of single sign-on without sacrificing personal data.

I believe this vision can significantly expand the Mozilla ecosystem. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how this concept and the SFFox.com identity can be integrated into your future roadmap.

Best regards,

Tarik Fadil

Domain Strategist & Web Developer

uannk40@gmail.com
